San Antonio police are still looking for the suspect after the Wednesday night shooting near Woodlawn Lake Park.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are searching for the passenger who allegedly shot a rideshare driver on the city’s inner west side Wednesday night.
SAPD said this involved an unregulated rideshare service called “Hood Uber,” an online group in which a group of drivers offers rides to people. It is not an official ride share company.
Officers initially responded to a call for gunfire in the 2000 block of West Laurel near Culebra Road around 9 p.m. According to an SAPD incident report, the 27-year-old driver of what police on the scene called a “Hood Uber” ride was shot in the shoulder by his passenger who, after being taken where he asked to go, refused to pay for his trip.
The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover after being taken to a local hospital.
“Hood Uber” has no direct ties to the real uber company, but people using this untraditional alternative often pay cash to get where they need to go.
At this time, the passenger, who police believe is a man in his 30s, has not been found.
