
SLPD said Kamran Kamran, 26, of Houston, and Roman Pollock, 20, of Fresno, were racing Saturday night when Kamran crashed into a Camry and killed the driver.
SUGAR LAND, Texas — Charges have been filed against two drivers blamed for a deadly weekend crash on Highway 6, Sugar Land police said on Wednesday.
According to SLPD, they were racing when one of them lost control and slammed into an innocent driver, killing him.
The crash happened on State Highway 6 around 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 21.
SLPD said Kamran Kamran, 26, of Houston, and Roman Pollock, 20, of Fresno, were racing when Kamran crashed his BMW into a Toyota Camry and killed the driver.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
Police said Pollock, who was driving a Mustang, remained at the scene, but Kamran took off.
Investigators located Kamran later and arrested him on charges of manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.
Pollock is charged with manslaughter.
“Street racing is illegal, reckless, and often deadly,” SLPD posted on Facebook Wednesday with mug shots of the suspects. “The SLPD remains committed to holding dangerous drivers accountable and keeping our roads safe.”
Multiple commenters on the Sugar Land Police Department’s posting said racing is an ongoing problem on Highway 6, and it’s been going on for years.
“These people treat Hwy 6 like it’s [an] F1 racing track,” Shehnila Karim posted. “I live on Hwy 6 and people are literally racing on HWY 6 till 3AM, disturbing the residents and most [importantly] causing crash, endangering lives. Police should strictly parole these areas especially after 9pm in my opinion.”
“Racing on [highway] 6 in the Williams Trace area has been going on for two years at least! It starts before midnight and sometimes lasts til 5 am! Any day of the week!” Debbie Murrile said.
