Houston Texans first-round playoff opponent set

The 11-6 Los Angeles Chargers will head to NRG Stadium to face the Texans. It’s a game you can see live on KHOU 11 on Saturday.

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans now know who they’ll play in the wild card round of the NFL playoffs. With the Steelers 19-17 loss to the Bengals on Saturday and the LA Chargers 34-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday, it’ll be Los Angeles coming to Houston in a game you can see LIVE on KHOU 11 Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Houston is locked into the No. 4 seed with a 10-7 record. The Chargers are No. 5 at 11-6. Houston hosts the game since they’re the AFC South division champs and the Chargers got in as a wild card. 

Meanwhile in other wild card matchups, the Steelers will play at the AFC North champion Baltimore Ravens. The Broncos will play at the AFC East-winning Bills.

Kansas City won the AFC West and is the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. They get a bye in the first round. 

The matchup 

Chargers QB Justin Herbert is 304 of 468 for 3,524 yards on the season.  He’s thrown 21 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions. Ladd McConkey is his top target, with 1,054 yards on 77 receptions. He also has seven touchdowns.

Texans QB CJ Stroud is 330 of 526 for 3,677 yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His top target this season has been Nico Collins, who has 63 passes for 968 yads and six touchdowns.

Joe Mixon leads the Texans running attack. He’s racked up 993 yards on 240 carries and 11 touchdowns on the ground. He’s also a threat receiving out of the backfield with 13 catches for 304 yards and a touchdown.

JK Dobbins led the Chargers in rushing with 177 carries for 842 yards and nine touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Texans are seventh overall in the NFL, allowing 315 yards per game. The Chargers are 13th at 328 yards given up per game.

Houston has given up 372 total points this season. The Chargers haven given up 281.
