Houston Texans reportedly trade offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil

The Texans made the trade with the Washington Commanders.

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans traded Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders for draft picks, according to reports Monday.

Tunsil is a five-time Pro Bowler, is under contract through 2026. He turns 30 early in training camp. He was the most penalized player in the NFL last season, with 17 penalties totaling 95 yards.

ESPN reported the Commanders received Tunsil and a fourth round pick in 2025. The Texans reportedly received a third-round pick and seventh-round pick in 2025, and a second-round pick and fourth-round pick in 2026.

Texans running back Joe Mixon commented on a social media post about the trade, writing “Hell nah” with a frowning face emoji. Tunsil spent the past six seasons with Houston after going there in a blockbuster trade from Miami in 2019.

Tunsil is a 10-year veteran who was traded to the Texans by the Miami Dolphins in 2019.

In 2016, he was a first-round draft pick out of Ole Miss by the Dolphins.
