The Houston safety is facing family violence charges in the wake of an incident at his Magnolia home over the summer.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested Thursday on a warrant out of Montgomery County.
According to court records, Ward, 34, was arrested on the felony warrant just after 5 p.m.
It’s not clear if the most recent arrest is tied to a previous arrest over the summer.
Around 4:30 a.m. on June 12, when deputies arrived at Ward’s home, they met with his fiancé, who claimed she had been threatened, assaulted and choked. Ward was arrested at his home with no further incident.
Ward started his NFL career in 2014 when he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. He played for San Fransico for nine seasons before signing a two-year contract with the Texans in 2023.
Ward was charged with the third-degree felony of assault of a family violence, impeding breath/circulation. He bonded out after his initial arrest.
At the time of Ward’s initial arrest, the Texans issued this statement: “We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward. We are gathering information and have no further comment at this time.”
