HOUSTON — Texans star Jimmie Ward was arrested for family violence Thursday morning, according to Montgomery County jail records.
At 4:34 a.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of an assault at a North Grove home in Magnolia, Texas.
When deputies arrived at the home, they met with Ward’s fiancé, who claimed she had been threatened, assaulted and choked. Ward was arrested at his home with no further incident and taken to the Montgomery County Jail around 5:30 a.m.
Ward faces third-degree felony charges for assault of a family violence impeding breath/circulation. He’s being held without bond.
Ward started his NFL career in 2014 when he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. He played for San Fransico for nine seasons before signing a two-year contract with the Texans in 2023.
With the recent news of Ward’s arrest, the Texans issued this statement: “We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward. We are gathering information and have no further comment at this time,” Senior Director of Communications Omar Majzoub said.
