Hoverboard catches fire while charging, causes minor damage to west-side unit

Fire crews were able to put out the small fire, make sure it didn’t spread and evacuate surrounding residents.

SAN ANTONIO — A small fire was caused by a hoverboard charging on the west side, authorities say.

At about 2:36 a.m. Saturday morning residents were in a unit in the 7500 block of West U.S. Hwy 90 charging a hoverboard. Suddenly, police on scene say the hoverboard caught fire. The residents were able to escape with no injuries.

Fire crews were able to put out the small fire, make sure it didn’t spread and evacuate surrounding residents.

Everyone was able to reenter the units with no issues. Minor damage to one unit was reported.

Police say there were no injuries.
