How do Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s bonuses compare with those of the other coaches in the College Football Playoff?

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns are one of four teams in the College Football Playoff. The coach who led them there got a big bonus for it and stands to earn a lot more if the Horns win it all.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian had already earned a $25,000 bonus for the Horns being bowl eligible this season and anther $100,000 for getting the team to the Big 12 title game, according to USA Today Sports. Texas’ 49-21 win over Oklahoma State Saturday earned him another $100,000 bonus.  

Then with the announcement of Texas as one of the four teams that made it to the College Football Playoff, Sark earned another $75,000. USA Today Sports reports that he’ll earn another $125,000 if they get to the CFP final.  And if Texas wins it all at NRG Stadium in Houston, Sarkisian will earn $250,000. 

How does that compare to the other coaches in the College Football Playoff according to USA Today Sports?  Their list has Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh standing to earn $1 million if the Wolverines win it all. He already won $1 million for winning the Big 10 title. He got another $500,000 for leading his team into the College Football Playoff. Alabama’s Nick Saban earned $400,000 for his team’s selection into the College Football Playoff. He’ll earn $200,000 if ‘Bama gets to the College Football Playoff title game and another $200,000 if the Crimson Tide become college football’s national champs.  Washington’s Kalen DeBoer earned $400,000 when the Huskies earned a spot in the CFP semifinal. He could still earn $450,000 if Washington gets to the CFP title game and another $50,000 if they win the title game in Houston.
