How to check voter registration ahead of the Nov. 4 election in Texas

Here’s what Texans need to know to check their voter registration status or register to vote in the Nov. 4 election ahead of the Oct. 6 registration deadline.

TEXAS, USA — The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 4 election in Texas is Monday, Oct. 6. 

Everything from proposed amendments to the state constitution to local school board and city council races, and more, will be on the ballot Nov. 4, as our sister station KVUE reports.

Texans can check their voter registration status using the Texas Secretary of State Office’s online portal. For specific questions about voter registration status, contact your county voter registrar. You can also update voter registration information here.

Voter eligibility in Texas

To be eligible to vote in Texas, you must: 

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be a resident of the county in which you submit an application
  • Be at least 17 years and 10 months of age on the date your voter registration application is submitted, and 18 years of age on Election Day
  • Not be a convicted felon (although you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole)
  • Not have been declared either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated by a court
