SAN ANTONIO — Some local air conditioning companies are receiving 100 calls a day as they try to keep up with demand during San Antonio’s ongoing heat wave.
Charlie Gonzalez is the senior technician with Cowboy’s Air Conditioning & Heating.
“We’re constantly busy,” he said. ”If you notice something is going wrong with your air conditioner, call right away.”
Charlie says to get your AC unit serviced as soon as you can to prepare for the summer months. He says call ahead.
“Upkeep with your filters,” Gonzalez said. “I know on the label it might say it needs to be replaced every three months or every six months. Often times it’s up to that amount of time.”
He says making sure each part works together in harmony without the fear of kinks or tears is the key to staying cool.
“We’re going to look at the duct work, then we’re going to step outdoor and look at the outdoor condensing unit,” he said. “We’re going to check your drain line.”
One thing he says when it comes to working in the heat is leave the work to professionals.
“Especially if we’re going into attics that are in excess of 140 degrees plus,” he said. “Sometimes with traditional and conventional AC units it’s best to take the fan blade off and wash it from the inside. We just got to make sure the job is being done correctly.”
