SAN ANTONIO — The well-known music store, Sam Ash has announced they are closing their shops, according to their website. This includes one store in San Antonio located on McCollough Ave. near North Star Mall were inside customers can see all the instruments marked on sale.

Sam Ash had been in business for 100 years with dozens of stores located across the country, including three in Texas and one in San Antonio. For many San Antonians this was a place they could shop, play and possibly buy their first instrument.

Before entering the local store you are met with a large sign that reads “Store Closing” and as you walk inside see almost every instrument tagged with a yellow sticker to mark their new discounted price.

Although sales fill Sam Ash the discounts are not as big as people may assume. For instance, some violins priced at a range of $200-$500 had a sign of only 5% off. Other brass instruments such as trumpets and saxophones were also marked at 5-10%

The music store known for customers taking down one of the dozens of displayed guitar hanging on the wall and plugging them into an amp to jam out were also marked at a small discount. Some electric guitars priced at over $1000 were marked at only 5% off and guitar cases at 10% off. Of course prices can change as the last day of sales nears.
