“I almost died again.” | San Antonio woman on motorcycle nearly run over after hit-and-run crash on highway; driver at large

“I forgive those who do harm against me, because that is God’s will, that is God’s way.”

SAN ANTONIO — A young woman remains hospitalized after she says a reckless driver ran her off the road early Thursday morning on Highway 151, leaving her with serious injuries.

Genevieve Pompa, who suffered multiple fractures and spinal injuries, spoke from the hospital, about the terrifying moments leading up to the crash.

“I have a fractured fibula. I have a fractured ankle. It’s to the point where it’s hanging off the joint,” Pompa said. She also suffered a fractured neck, shattered wrist and finger, and severe road rash.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. Thursday near Westover Hills Boulevard and Wiseman Boulevard. Pompa said she noticed a driver swerving in and out of lanes before the crash.

“As soon as I hit Westover Hill and Wiseman, I noticed his car. He was very much not staying in his lane,” she said.

Pompa said she slowed down to let the driver pass but noticed construction ahead and the lanes merging into one. That’s when she said the driver veered toward her motorcycle.

“I guess he saw that first cone and he just flew over and hit me,” Pompa recalled.

Pompa said she was thrown from her bike and slid across the highway before managing to roll herself toward the side of the road to avoid oncoming traffic.

“I remember just screaming for help and pain,” she said. “I hear a car coming, and my body was in so much pain, but I had to force myself to roll over.”

Pompa said the driver didn’t stop, leaving her injured on the road until another driver pulled over to help.

“The least you can do is be a decent human and just check on my well-being,” she said.

Pompa has since started a GoFundMe to help cover her medical bills, physical therapy cost, and ongoing treatments.

Police are now searching for the driver, described as being in a white car, possibly a Honda or Volkswagen Jetta, with damage and black paint on the passenger side.

Despite everything, Pompa says she holds no anger toward the driver.

“I forgive those who do harm against me because that is God’s will, that is God’s way,” she said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact San Antonio police.
