SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio Police officer has been suspended indefinitely, without pay, for allegedly violating their “truthfulness of members” policy, according to officials.
SAPD alleges that Officer Patrick Earles violated their policy when he refused to give information to the SVU about a domestic violence incident that was reported.
Police received information on December 9, 2024, that Earles had been assaulted by another officer with whom he was reportedly in a relationship with while off-duty, according to suspension reports from the month of April.
SAPD Special Victims Unit (SVU) was notified of the incident and attempted to investigate.
Officer Earles indicated to SVU, “It was nothing physical and not sure how it got reported like that, but it was a lot of arguing.” Investigators later determined that Officer Earles had texted an officer with contradicting information after communicating with SVU, according to the documents.
The text from Officer Earles read, “Well I can’t tell SVU the truth.” The person he was texting told him to be honest, to which he replied, “No I can’t do that. I won’t be responsible for her losing her career.”
Because SAPD has a policy regarding every police officers conduct, Earles was suspended indefinitely without pay April 10.
