SAN ANTONIO — The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services is inviting the community to find a “fur-ever” match during a special adoption event this weekend.
ACS will host its “Fur-ever Valentines Adoption Weekend” from Friday, Feb. 13, through Sunday, Feb. 15, offering $0 adoptions at the shelter, located on 4710 State Highway 151.
ACS said the promotion is designed to help more pets find loving homes because, as the shelter notes “true love shouldn’t cost a thing.”
Residents can look for love in two ways.
For those who want a little help meeting “the one,” ACS will host “Meet Your Match” sessions. The guided, small-group introductions are designed to help potential adopters learn more about available pets in a relaxed setting. Sessions will be offered every hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. and residents can sign up through the ACS website, according to shelter officials.
After the session, participants can head to the kennels with everything they need to take the next step toward adoption, ACS said.
Guests who prefer to follow their hearts can also explore the shelter at their own pace. ACS staff and volunteers will be available throughout the weekend to answer questions and assist with the adoption process.
In addition to meeting adoptable pets, ACS said visitors can enjoy Valentine-themed interaction stations, including free puppaccinos and custom pet tags for adopters. The first 100 completed adoptions on Valentine’s Day will also receive a rose.
ACS said every adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, a registered microchip, initial vaccinations and access to the shelter’s trainers.
Residents can preview available pets at the website here and on social media at @SanAntonioACS, according to the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services.
