SAN ANTONIO — July marked one year since the disappearance of Jeanie Chavez, a San Antonio mother last seen in July 2024, and her family continues to search for answers and is pleading with the public for help.
Chavez, who was 32 at the time of her disappearance, was last seen leaving a friend’s home in the 1000 block of Aganier Avenue, just north of downtown San Antonio.
Her mother, Annie Salcido, said she had been preparing to enter a treatment center in Houston for a pill addiction but never arrived.
“She was supposed to go to a treatment center in Houston, and she never showed up,” Salcido told KENS 5. “I knew at that point something was wrong. I called her phone over and over again—no answer.”
Salcido said she was told by Chavez’s friend that Jeanie had left the home voluntarily and didn’t want to go into treatment. However, her personal belongings were left behind—something her mother found unusual.
Now, 14 months later, Salcido has traveled from California to San Antonio, Arizona, and Oklahoma in search of her daughter. She fears Chavez may have been trafficked.
“I feel my daughter was sold,” Salcido said. “It’s just a mental roller coaster that you’re constantly taken on because you don’t know if the unknown is the worst.”
Desperate for answers, Salcido even contacted San Antonio psychic Vic Andrea, after watching a KENS 5 story, where Andrea helped authorities find a missing elderly man.
“I was able to see images, images right here is what I explain it, and in my images, I could see her still alive. I could see her isolated and alone.” Said Andrea.
Chavez’s disappearance has also taken a toll on her two young daughters—3-year-old Charlie and 11-year-old Leah.
“It’s hard because I started getting depressed,” Leah said.
Despite the time that has passed, Salcido believes Jeanie is still alive and being controlled. She says detectives also believe her daughter is alive.
“I’m praying, and I just have this feeling that she’s still with us,” Leah said.
Salcido said she’s not going to give up searching for daughter, and more than anything, she wants closure—not just for herself, but for her granddaughters, so they can begin to heal.
Anyone with information about Jeanie Chavez’s whereabouts is urged to contact the San Antonio Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit.
