“He really did pick the wrong family, because we are never going to stop looking. We are never going to give up, and we are going to stop this,” said Annie Salcido.
The mother of missing San Antonio woman, 32 year-old Jeanie Marie Chavez, is speaking out because she says she knows she is not the only person or family going through this as she continues to search for Jeanie.
“It’s really, really bad, this in San Antonio, what is happening to these young missing girls,” said Annie Salcido, Jeanie Chavez’s Mother.
Salcido says the past six months have been heart wrenching since Jeanie disappeared from San Antonio on July 15, 2024.
Jeanie was last seen in the 1000 block of Againer Avenue on the city’s north side.
In Annie’s search for Jeanie, she’s learned disturbing details that her daughter may have fallen victim to trafficking.
“I just know that he sold my daughter, and he sold her for some drugs and some money,” said Salcido.
Annie says Jeanie was struggling with a pill addiction, living in her car, when she was approached by a man several times.
“Offering her God knows what, and my daughter accepted. When she accepted, she accepted this from the devil himself,” said Salcido.
Annie says she found out her daughter was in Oklahoma, so she went there and found people that knew her, who said she was being controlled.
“I don’t know if she’s alive. not alive,” said Salcido.
Earlier this month, the Texas Department of Public Safety sent out a warning urging the public to remain vigilant.
In the fiscal year 2024, DPS Special Agents recovered 446 human trafficking victims, arresting 874 suspects on human trafficking related charges.
“We all need to come together, and stop all this,” said Salcido.
Jeanie’s disappearance has caused Annie heartache and sleepless nights. Annie says she and Jeanie’s two daughters pray for her safety every night.
The situation has also awakened Annie’s motherly instinct to fight for her daughter.
She says she’s written letters to Homeland Security, and even President-elect Trump, trying to get attention on Jeanie’s case.
“He really did pick the wrong family, because we are never going to stop looking. We are never going to give up, and we are going to stop this,” said Salcido.
Annie says her heart goes out to other mothers and families going through what she is going through.
