
A suspect confessed to police in the murder of actor Jonathan Joss outside his family home, an SAPD report says.
SAN ANTONIO — A police report released Tuesday shows the suspect accused in the death of “King of the Hill” actor Jonathan Joss confessed to officers the night of the murder.
The 59-year-old actor whose legal name is Jonathan Joss Gonzales was shot to death outside his family’s home on Dorsey Street. His neighbor, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 59, is facing a murder charge in his death.
The SAPD report says two officers who first arrived at the scene around 7 p.m. Sunday identified the suspect and took him into custody without incident. Those two officers reported the suspect told them, “I shot him” as he was being detained.
Other neighbors in the area had known the two to be in a longstanding fued. Witnesses said they often faced off with weapons and gunshots were heard from both men’s houses in the evenings. Their confrontations had never turned into actual violence until Sunday.
“I’ve been here six years and when we moved in, it was already going on,” said one neighbor who called herself Gina. “So it’s just been years of feuds with these two. I’m not taking nobody’s side because I do have reports on both of them, but nothing got done.”
Gina said lots of neighbors have called for help many times, adding: “This man should be alive today, but nothing got done.”
Police say Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez’s bond has been set at $200,000. At last check, he remained behind bars.
Joss was a well-known actor famous for his roles on “King of the Hill” and “Parks and Recreation” as well as recent roles on “Tulsa Kings” and the “Magnificent Seven.” Some of his fellow costars and friends expressed condolences upon the news of his death.
