ICE field office in San Antonio evacuated after ‘suspicious powder’ was found; FBI investigating

“This deliberate act of intimidation has been referred to the FBI for a comprehensive investigation,” ICE official said Tuesday afternoon.

SAN ANTONIO — An Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in north San Antonio was evacuated Tuesday afternoon as officials investigated “an envelope containing a suspicious powder,” agency officials said.

Few details were provided, but the evacuation of office personnel happened around 12:30 p.m. at 1015 Jackson Keller. Law enforcement arrived to “analyze the substance,” an ICE spokesperson said, but it’s unknown where the envelope came from.

A KENS 5 crew observed a fire engine and law enforcement at the building.

“This deliberate act of intimidation has been referred to the FBI for a comprehensive investigation,” the spokesperson said, calling it a “blatant attempt to disrupt ICE operations and endanger its personnel.”

“Those responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” ICE said.
