Ice takes down Topgolf net amid San Antonio’s winter weather

A photo shared by a Reddit user shows the netting down in several sections the morning of Thursday, February 2. While local residents may not be flocking to Topgolf given the chilly temperatures, this poses a bit of a problem given that the netting is essential to catching golf balls swung by Topgolf patrons, especially if they’re enjoying a drink or two.

On Reddit, locals worried about how the netting would impact Top Golf’s business operations. Many pointed out that the establishment had been closed for about a month due to renovations.

“Ouch and they just reopened after being closed for a month,” u/TortiousTroll added.

“Dang. And they just reopened. Guess they’ll be closed again for a bit,” assumed u/OhJohnO.

Now, that may be in the air still. MySA reached out to Topgolf for comment, but did not hear back in time for publication. However, an update on Reddit shows that the netting was being put back up as of Friday morning, February 3.

Others couldn’t get past how the winter weather impacted the city differently as well as the aforementioned power of ice.

“It’s weird how a few miles makes a huge difference, despite being in the same area,” u/mr_eggshells contributed. “I had no ice the past two days, just rain. This looks like a completely different city.”

“This cold has mostly just taught me to never underestimate the weight of ice,” admits u/JeffStylez96.

Same.
