
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Legendary actress and singer Rita Moreno will join Texas A&M-Kingsville students and faculty for the upcoming Centennial Lectureship this April.
The event will celebrate Javelina Nation’s 100th anniversary. As the first institution of higher learning in South Texas, Texas A&M-Kingsville holds a special place in the region’s history.
Moreno, a trailblazer for Hispanic and Latino entertainers, made history by winning the first Oscar ever awarded to a Hispanic woman for her portrayal of Anita in the original West Side Story. She is an EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Tony, and Oscar), as well as an iconic actress, singer, Broadway legend, and film star.

The Centennial Lectureship will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the Performance Hall of the Music Education Complex, 775 N. Armstrong, on the campus of Texas A&M-Kingsville.
