If Stroud can’t plan Sunday, who would the Texans turn to at quarterback against Tennessee?

While Davis Mills has been the backup this season, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said he’s been told there’s a ‘very real possibility’ that Case Keenum will step in.

HOUSTON — A lot is at stake on Sunday when the Houston Texans visit the Tennessee Titans.

Houston is 7-6 and in the thick of the playoff race, but they will likely be without starting quarterback C.J. Stroud, who is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol and listed as doubtful.

Davis Mills was the starter the last two seasons and is Stroud’s backup, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said he’s been told there’s “a very real possibly” that Case Keenum will step in.

While Texans’ head coach DeMeco Ryans hasn’t announced a decision yet, going with Keenum would make sense because of his big game experience, writes KHOU 11’s Matt Musil.

Ryans said they both had good weeks at practice.

“Both guys have prepared this whole week, just like every position,” Ryans said Friday. “Everyone has prepared. I told everybody on Wednesday, everybody needs to prepare as a starter. That’s how we approach it.”

As for other Texans injuries, defensive end Will Anderson and linebacker Blake Cashman are out. Wide receiver Nico Collins is listed as questionable.

Tennessee Titans to wear Oilers throwbacks against Houston

The Titans will wear their Oilers uniforms Sunday against the Houston Texans. It’s the second of two times they’ll be in Columbia blue this season.  They’ll also honor Houston Oilers legendary wide receiver Billy “White Shoes” Johnson in the game.

It’s a noon kickoff on KHOU 11.
