PLEASANTON, Texas — One Pleasanton woman is hoping for a Halloween miracle after realizing her diamond wedding ring slipped off her finger while she was handing out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.
“My husband proposed to me in 2018, so it’s been on my finger for seven years,” said Keatlynn Barrera.
Barrera said she was passing out candy outside her home on High Meadow Drive when she noticed something was missing.
“I just had my band on. My diamond engagement ring was missing,” she said.
The shock quickly turned to panic as Barrera and her family searched everywhere —and even dumped out the candy bowl.
“It must have fallen off my finger whenever I was handing out candy. I know it was cold,” she said. “We start looking around the ground everywhere… and I realized it was gone.”
After searching up and down the street with no luck, Barrera said devastation set in.
“Something in my gut told me, no — it was gone,” she said.
Now, Barrera is asking anyone who may have stopped by her home on Halloween night to double-check their candy buckets.
“Check your candy, check your car if your kids dumped it out in there — just check anywhere,” she said.
Barrera has contacted local pawn shops but was told they couldn’t share information without a police report, so she filed one with the Pleasanton Police Department.
She’s offering a cash reward to anyone who can help reunite her with her ring.
“I’m just hoping that someone has it, and in the goodness of their heart, will return it,” Barrera said. “It’s very sentimental, and I’m just heartbroken without it.”
