Just a few months shy of her 102nd birthday, Evilo Kring remains active as she keeps up with arts, crafts and gardening.
FINDLAY, Ohio — At 101 years old, Evilo Kring is still making an impact in the Findlay community.
Just months away from turning 102, Kring remains active, engaged and cherished by those around her.
Born in the same year the original Hollywood sign was erected and Warner Bros. was founded, Kring has witnessed a century of change. Despite her advanced age, she continues to enjoy life and contribute to her community.
“I’m able to do for myself,” Kring said. “You want to balance your account. I did something right in the family. I was well known for my pies. It means a lot that they’re with me.”
Kring remains active at Brookdale Findlay, where she has lived for the past three years. She enjoys crafting, painting and is a dedicated member of the local garden club. Remarkably, she drove until the age of 98.
Her twin daughters, Sue Williams and Sally Inbody, say their mother’s influence has never waned.
“I’m proud that she’s my mother and she’s always been there for us,” Williams said. “If we were sick or whatever, you know, she’d bring meals to us.”
“I’m proud of her and that she can do all of this,” Inbody said. “She is very talented.”
Brookdale Findlay staff and residents admire Kring’s wisdom and perseverance.
“She’s an amazing woman that you can learn things from,” one resident said. “She talks about passing things down from generation to generation, you can tell that that’s come from a woman such as Evilo,” said Debra Darling, resident programs coordinator with Brookdale Findlay.
As for Kring’s secret to a long and fulfilling life? She keeps it simple.
“Good health, and I did something right,” she said.
