SILSBEE, Texas — Cold and rainy weather is dampening holiday festivities across Southeast Texas.
The Silsbee Volunteer Fire Department’s lighted Christmas parade has been rescheduled to next weekend due to rainy weather.
Silsbee Fire & Rescue, along with the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce, had originally scheduled the themed lighted Christmas parade for today, Dec. 7.
Silsbee Fire Chief Robin Jones said the parade is now rescheduled for next Saturday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m.
This year’s theme will be “Superheroes Celebrate Christmas,” and participants are encouraged to get creative.
Shangri La Botanical Gardens will also be canceling their annual ‘Christmas Stroll’ Saturday, Dec. 7, but will open back up when weather allows.
The city of Nederland has also announced that, due to the weather, they will have to postpone their Christmas Tree lighting ceremony and drone show.
“These events will be rescheduled soon and details will be released ASAP,” said a STAN message from the city.
The event was originally scheduled for Dec. 7.
12News will update this article with the new time and date for the event when those details are released.
