Deputies say while the man appears to have experienced a medical episode, officials will ultimately rule on the cause and manner of death.
SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said an inmate died Sunday night after suffering an apparent medical episode.
BCSO said a male inmate was found unresponsive in his cell during a routine observation check. Deputies immediately responded, performing life-saving measures but the inmate succumbed to his medical episode and was pronounced dead by first responders.
While the man appears to have experienced a medical episode, officials will ultimately rule on the cause and manner of death.
BCSO said its Internal Affairs Unit is conducting an administrative investigation while the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office handles the death investigation in accordance with the Sandra Bland Act.
