Inmate dies while in custody at Guadalupe County Jail, investigation underway

The Texas Rangers are conducting the death investigation.

SAN ANTONIO — A 45-year-old man has died while in custody at the Guadalupe County Jail, officials said Monday. 

According to the Guadalupe County Sherriff’s Office, on Feb.24, 2025, John Ryan Taylor was found unresponsive in his cell around 5:45 a.m. 

Life-saving measures were provided and Taylor was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said. 

The Texas Rangers are conducting a death investigation. 

No other information was provided.
