Inmate escapes Karnes County facility; Officials ask community to ‘stay vigilant’

Yonathan Castaneda-Flores reportedly escaped the center, which is located off of FM 1144, around 7:45 Thursday night.

KARNES COUNTY, Texas — Offiicials in Karnes County are asking the commuinty to stay vigilant after an inmate escaped federal custody at the Karnes County Immigration processing center.

Yonathan Castaneda-Flores reportedly escaped the center, which is located off of FM 1144, around 7:45 Thursday night. The inmate was last seen running away from the GEO facility towards FM 99. a Hispanic male, approximately 20 years of age, with short dark hair, wearing a dark blue prison issued inmate uniform consisting of a shirt, pants, and dark shoes with white soles.

As of 12:30 a.m. Friday, the Karnes County Sheriff says they received numerous tips but have not located the suspect. They are asking all Karnes County residents to be alert and cognizant. Contact 911 immediately if you see this inmate and do not attempt to apprehend him yourselves.
