San Antonio ISD reopens investigation into sexual assault reports at Young Women’s Leadership Academy Primary.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio ISD is reopening an investigation into reports of sexual assault cases at Young Women’s Leadership Academy Primary, officials said.
In a letter to parents provided by the district, officials said they were relaunching the investigation due to “an abundance of caution.” A previous investigation already conducted did not reveal any evidence of sexual assault, but the letter said, “we are committed to ensuring the safety of every child and understand the significance of parent concerns.”
SAISD’s police department will conduct the second investigation. District officials did not give any information as to who is involved in the investigation. SAISD Employee Relations will investigate the allegations related to general concerns about campus leadership, according to the letter.
The district and Young Women’s Leadership Network (the governing body for YWLAP) will hold parent or staff conferences to hear concerns on April 16, April 17 and April 21. The school plans to hold a campus meeting to share the findings of the investigation upon its completion.
The letter to parents went on to say:
“The physical and emotional safety of our students is our utmost priority, and we will always act to protect those in our care. Thank you for your patience and support during this process.”
YWLA Primary opened in August 2019 with only kindergarten and first grade students. Each year, the school phased in another grade and became a full K-5 program in 2023. A separate campus houses grades 6th-12th.
This is a developing story and further details will be added as they are received.
