BCSO is investigating a suspected murder-suicide in northeast Bexar County, where Jennifer Rodriguez and Marcus James were found dead from gunshot wounds.
SAN ANTONIO — Online records are offering more information about what deputies are calling a murder-suicide in northeast Bexar County Sunday evening.
The call for help came at 7:45 p.m.
Dispatch records show first responders were told to go to the 2500 block of Sunset Bend for a report of two deceased people in a home there.
Deputies reported finding the body of 37-year-old Jennifer Rodriguez with a gunshot wound.
The Bexar County District Attorney’s office said Rodriguez was a valued employee and many are deeply saddened by her loss.
Investigators believe she was killed by a man she was dating, 39-year-old Marcus James.
James, they said, was found nearby, also dead from a gunshot wound. A 9-millimeter gun was found near the bodies.
One neighbor said they saw the couple at the door of their home mid-afternoon retrieving packages that had been delivered, and they were surprised by the violent and tragic turn of events.
KENS 5 asked for calls for service at the home. BCSO said they were called to the house four times between March and August of 2025. The calls included one incident reporting threats, another alleging a verbal disturbance and informational reports, but they said James was not involved in any of those incidents.
A check of online records reveals James had one previous criminal charge in Bexar County, a 2017 case involving aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Court records show that case was dismissed in June 2018, but there are other offenses going back in time in the state of Florida. There are cases for domestic battery, domestic violence by strangulation, theft, and more.
A statement from BCSO reads: “While preliminary evidence points toward a murder-suicide, investigators are conducting a thorough forensic review to finalize the sequence of events.”
Meanwhile, the DA’s office called Rodriguez incredibly hard-working and the kind of person who always had a wonderful attitude.
They urged everyone to keep her loved ones in their thoughts and prayers.
There’s no word on funeral services for Rodriguez yet.
