‘It just changed everything’ | Woman says Olmos Park ‘peeping Tom’ may have had more sinister intent

Olmos Park police are searching for a suspected peeping Tom still on the run after a woman says security video revealed more sinister behavior.

OLMOS PARK, Texas — A woman who initially believed she encountered a “peeping Tom” outside her home now says security video suggests the suspect’s intentions may have been far more dangerous.

The incident happened Tuesday evening at a home off Shook Avenue near Hildebrand Road. The woman, who spoke anonymously, said she first noticed the man through the reflection of a mirror inside her dining room.

“I saw a man … put his face up and hands up against the window,” she recalled.

She said her first instinct was to confront him, so she ran to her backyard.

“My first reaction was anger … I yelled, ‘Sir, can I help you?’” she said.

She ran back inside — and when she looked again, it took a second to register what she was seeing.

“I looked back out the window … and I saw him masturbating outside of my window,” she said.

She called 911 at about 6:42 p.m., and officers arrived within minutes, but the suspect had already left.

While speaking with police, the woman said a neighbor approached with another alarming account — telling her a man had followed her into the complex while she was out for a run.

The next day, the woman said she reviewed security footage alongside a neighbor and maintenance staff, analyzing video from multiple cameras.

“From the moment he came into our complex until the moment he left,” she said, “we went through every single frame.”

She said the footage shows the suspect arriving on a bicycle, hiding near mailboxes, and continuing to follow the runner deeper into the property.

“He parked his bike and he walked all around looking for her. He was absolutely looking for her,” she said. “He opened my neighbor’s back gate. He opened my back gate.”

The woman said the video also appears to show the man repeatedly reaching into his pocket. She believes he may have been holding a weapon, such as a taser or pepper spray, though that has not been confirmed by police.

“We zoomed in on that and it absolutely looks like it was some sort of weapon,” she said.

After reviewing the footage, she said her understanding of the encounter shifted dramatically.

“Watching the video … it just changed everything,” she said. “It’s why I knew that we needed to get his face out there.”

She said the suspect appeared “completely normal,” which made the encounter even more unsettling.

The experience has left residents shaken. The woman said neighbors are now afraid to walk from their cars to their front doors, and some have added security cameras to their homes.

“I go on runs by myself too, and don’t feel safe doing that right now,” she said.

The Olmos Park Police Department said the suspect is described as a man between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing between 190 and 200 pounds, with a tattoo on his right forearm and a wristwatch on his left wrist. He was last seen leaving the area on an older, dark-colored bicycle with drop handlebars.

Police conducted evidence collection at the scene, including processing the window for fingerprints, according to the woman.

Authorities have increased patrols in the area following the incident.

Olmos Park is widely considered a low-crime, residential community, making the incident particularly alarming for neighbors who say they were caught off guard.

“It is a safe community … but as they say, crime has no address,” the woman said.

She said her goal in sharing her story is to raise awareness.

“Don’t think that just because of where you live … that something like this can’t happen to you,” she said. “We all need to be vigilant, aware of our surroundings and look out for each other.”

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about his identity is asked to contact Sgt. Melissa Campbell at 210-578-3236.
