‘It really warms your heart’ | SA nonprofit spreads holiday cheer with 10th annual Christmas event

During Sunday’s event, children received toys, families were served dinner and attendees enjoyed crafts and activities designed to bring everyone together.

SAN ANTONIO — A local nonprofit brought smiles, meals and holiday gifts to dozens of families during its 10th annual Christmas dinner and toy drive.

Rock N’ Rockers Kids Pajamas Foundation, founded by Anthanette Bell, hosted the community event with the goal of making sure families had what they needed during the holiday season.

“We just want to help our community, our city, and make sure these families have what they need,” Bell said.

Bell described the organization as a growing family, saying once families connect with Rock N’ Rockers, they become part of the foundation’s extended community.

During the event, children received toys, families were served dinner and attendees enjoyed crafts and activities designed to bring everyone together.

One of the event’s sponsors, Carabin Shaw San Antonio Personal Injury Lawyers, contributed bicycles through its charitable initiative, Cycle It Forward. The project refurbishes gently used bikes and donates them to children in the community.

“It really warms your heart,” said Lynette Vega, digital director at Carabin Shaw. “For some kids, these are the first bikes that they’ll ever receive, and for some, it may be the only Christmas present that they get.”

This year’s celebration held special meaning for Bell, who is currently battling cancer. Despite her health challenges, she said the joy on the children’s faces gives her strength.

“It makes me feel good to see them feel good,” Bell said. “These kids are just so happy.”

The annual event marks a decade of service for the nonprofit, which continues to focus on supporting children and families throughout the San Antonio community.
