SAFD said a blaze at a home on Ferris Creek may have caused an explosion in the garage, sending one victim to the hospital with burns.
SAN ANTONIO — One person was hurt after a fire and explosion at a home on the northwest side Tuesday evening, fire officials said.
According to the San Antonio Fire Department, an explosion in the garage of a home on Ferris Creek caused the blaze. They believe the owner of the home was driving into the garage, went too far and hit the water heater. They weren’t sure if the car or the gas line sparked the fire.
The driver’s wife was in a different part of the home, and was injured and taken to the hospital with burn. She is expected to survive.
Officials said the fire caused a wall collapse, and crews had to work to stop the flames from spreading to other homes nearby.
