‘It’s disrespectful’ | SUV caught on video driving over gravesites at San Antonio cemetery

The archdiocese of San Antonio, who manages the property, says staff was made aware of the video after people started calling them Wednesday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — An SUV driving over graves was caught on video and has now gone viral.

The disturbing video shows a blue SUV driving over the graves at San Fernando Cemetery #2.

We went out to the cemetery to see the tire tracks, and found multiple tracks over gravesites, and headstones.

“It’s disrespectful to everybody, that has somebody here,” said Trinidad Olvera, who has a grandmother buried at the cemetery.

Olvera came to the San Fernando Cemetery #2 to visit his grandmother’s gravesite. We showed Olvera the viral video making it’s rounds on social media, showing the blue SUV driving over the graves.

“They don’t know who is who’s there running over somebody else’s family, somebody else’s mother, someone’s baby, grandparent,” said Olvera.

The Archdiocese of San Antonio, who manages the property, says staff at the cemetery were made aware of the video after people started calling them Wednesday morning.

Staff inspected the area and did not find any damage, but we found several tracks over gravesites, and even headstones.

“I just think it’s super disrespectful for people to be driving over it like that, that’s crazy,” said Sarvia Ortiz, who’s grandmother is buried at the cemetery.

Ortiz also came to visit her grandmother’s gravesite. While a vehicle didn’t run over that grave, Ortiz says the incident is still upsetting.

“I don’t want somebody driving over my grandma, and that’s pretty much in the same area, where it was at,” said Ortiz.

The Archdiocese tells us a police report was filed.  SAPD says the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Olvera says maybe the cemetery should consider installing security cameras, but for now, he says he hopes people will just be more considerate.

“If it was your family, how would you feel if somebody did that to yours?” said Olvera.

In their statement, the Archdiocese says SAPD will be increasing patrols in the area.
