Police say a man who was dumpster diving made the grizzly discovery just before noon Tuesday.
SAN ANTONIO — Police say a fetus was found inside a dumpster on Tuesday at a north-side San Antonio apartment complex.
Authorities say a man who was dumpster diving at the Canlen West Apartments on West Avenue made the discovery.
Security video provided by a resident shows the moment the man called for help.
Police say the man found a diaper bag inside the dumpster and when he opened it up, that’s when he made the grisly discovery — a small fetus with arms and legs.
“It’s heartbreaking,” said the resident.
The man told a maintenance man about his discovery and then police were called but it was too late.
“They were taking pictures. They got around the car, they were taking pictures but they were covering up the baby. Then when they’re done with that, they got the baby and then they put him in a plastic bag, in a white bag.” the resident said.
We spoke with several residents who didn’t want to be on camera but they say they are shocked, saddened and upset that someone would do something like this.
“If you’re gonna have a baby, I understand take that baby to the hospital, go to the hospital go deliver it at the hospital, not in the dumpster,” said one resident.
One resident we spoke with is calling for justice, hoping authorities find whoever dumped the baby. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
