“It’s like he disappeared off the face of the earth” | Family searching for man who’s been missing since June

Dharma Scott Smittick has not been in contact with anyone in his family, and was last known to be in the downtown area.

SAN ANTONIO — The family of a San Antonio man have been searching for him since June 26.

Dharma Scott Smittick has not been in contact with anyone in his family, and was last known to be in the downtown area.

His family is worried and hopes he is found safe.

29-year-old Dharma Scott Smittick is described  as easy going. He moved to San Antonio in 2019, and his family says he struggles with depression, a mental health issue requiring a doctor’s care and homelessness.

“He’s had a lot of trauma, basically due to some family life, and being vulnerable in these street life,” said Jorine Mills, Dharma’s Aunt.

Dharma last had contact with his mother Mary on June 26, through a text message after speaking with a case manager at a local shelter. Mary says he texted her saying he was going to a men’s ministry.  She says for the few days before he disappeared, they were talking about bringing him to Chattanooga, Tennessee where she now lives.

“His mother hasn’t heard from him, these community people in these communities have not seen him, so there is something wrong,” said Mills.

Mills says he would sometimes rely on help from community advocates and his mother so when he stopped speaking with them, that raised red flags.

“We don’t know where he is, It’s like he is just disappeared off the face of the earth, that’s the scary part,” said Mills.

Dharma is 5′ 10″, with curly hair and tattoos on his right arm of a black crown and black circle. He also has a tattoo on his right shoulder of a Buddhist symbol known as the Wheel of Dharma.

His family says not knowing where he is at has been very emotional. They are praying he is ok, and hoping someone can give them answers.

“Let him know that we care. Let him know to contact somebody, especially your mom,” said Mills.
