The whiskey barrel tree will remain in the outdoor ULTRA Club during the holiday season.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs announced the lighting of a special Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey Barrel Tree at Frost Bank Center at the team’s Thursday, Dec. 5 game against the Chicago Bulls.
The only whiskey barrel tree in Texas will remain in the outdoor ULTRA Club for fans to enjoy throughout the holiday season through the Spurs’ Saturday, Jan. 4 game.
And fans can own a piece of this special tree.
Spurs fans can purchase barrels from the tree online now, with 100% of proceeds going to Operation Ride Home. Operation Ride Home is a program that supports junior-enlisted service members and families in helping them travel from their service bases to see their loved ones.
“Our whiskey barrels have always had a special role to play, and during the holiday season, they take on an even greater purpose—bringing military families together,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller in a release. “We hope our friends in San Antonio will purchase a barrel to help service members create cherished memories with their loved ones. It’s an opportunity to honor their sacrifices and make this season even more meaningful for the families.”
Fans with game tickets will have a chance to snap photos and grab free Jack Daniel’s giveaways and samples at the tree beginning on Dec. 5. The Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Barrel Tree is a tradition that started in 2011 at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The San Antonio Barrel Tree will be seven tiers high and constructed from 113 Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey barrels.
Also, the Spurs announced that Thursday, Dec. 5, will feature a special edition of the ULTRA Warm-Up and Overtime Concert Series to celebrate the lighting of the Barrel Tree.
SPURS SCHEDULE UPDATE
With the Spurs eliminated from the NBA Cup tournament, the NBA has announced a game schedule update for the team.
San Antonio will visit Portland on Dec. 13 at 9:00 PM CDT. Minnesota will visit San Antonio on Dec. 15 at 6:00 PM CDT.
Following the loss to the Suns, Chris Paul lamented the team missing out on the tournament, calling it “tough.”
“This is tough. We knew how big this game was for us, and for me to come out and shoot the ball the way that I did, I got to be better and lead by example, you know what I mean,” he said.
