Jackknifed 18-wheeler halts San Antonio traffic after cargo spill

Morning commuters around San Antonio may want to brace for some significant delays, especially on the Southwest Side of the city where an 18-wheeler crash is impeding Wednesday morning traffic, June 26. Several other minor crashes across the city could also cause some more minor delays.

Reports of a jackknifed 18-wheeler on the Southwest Side of San Antonio came in shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday morning near the intersection of Loop 410 North and I-35. Images from the Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras show a tractor trailer flipped on a highway ramp connecting the two major roadways, spilling debris onto a high-traffic area.

Several crews are currently on site responding to the crash and attempting to clear the scene, but it may be some time before traffic is flowing smoothly again. Heavy congestion and stop-and-go traffic is being reported in the area as a result.

A major crash was reported at Loop 410 and I-35 on the Northeast Side of San Antonio shortly after 6:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to information from the Texas Department of Transportation. It’s unclear if there were any injuries as a result of the crash, but a TxDOT incident map reports the crash as being high severity. The fifth lane of northbound Loop 410 and connector ramp between the two highways was blocked as of 7:50 a.m. Tuesday.

A tow truck was on the scene of another crash on the Southwest Side of San Antonio near the intersection of I-35 North and Divisions Avenue. The minor crash was reported around 7:35 a.m. Tuesday morning, but response crews are moving quickly to clear the scene. The crash left a shoulder of the highway blocked.
