Jasper County woman arrested for allegedly posing as an officer, threatening man with gun

When the deputy arrived, authorities said, Alishia Robin Blevins, 58, of Kirbyville, had detained a man sitting on the roadway in front of his vehicle.

KIRBYVILLE, Texas —  A Jasper County woman was arrested Friday night after allegedly threatening a man with a handgun, claiming to be a police officer, and detaining him on a public roadway, according to Sheriff Chuck Havard.

At about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22, deputies responded to the 1200 block of County Road 536 in reference to a criminal trespass. When the deputy arrived, authorities said, Alishia Robin Blevins, 58, of Kirbyville, had detained a man sitting on the roadway in front of his vehicle.

Blevins told the deputy the man was an illegal immigrant and had trespassed on her property. However, investigators determined the victim never entered or remained on her property and was parked on a public road.

Despite that, officials said Blevins confronted the man with a handgun, ordered him to hand over his insurance information, name, cellphone and keys, and forced him to sit on the roadway until law enforcement arrived.

Both the victim and a witness later told deputies that Blevins called the man’s wife using his cellphone and identified herself as a police officer, claiming the man was going to jail.

Authorities said Blevins also placed a German Shepherd into the victim’s vehicle, claiming it was a Harris County K-9, and told the man the dog would attack if he attempted to flee while she retrieved water for him.

Blevins was arrested and booked into the Jasper County Jail on a charge of terroristic threat–cause fear of serious bodily injury.. Sheriff Havard said additional charges of impersonating a peace officer may follow.

Sheriff Havard says that ICE was later contacted after a Deputy discovered that the man was wearing an electronic ankle monitor from a Law Enforcement/ Probation agency.

“This normally means they are a criminal. Plus, he admitted to being in our country illegally,” Havard stated on social media. “Hence- this man should not have been in our county nor should he have been operating a vehicle. We didn’t make an arrest because there was no violation of the Texas Penal Code present when we arrived.”

Havard went on to say that these circumstances do not impact the criminal case against Blevins.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
