Jeremy Sochan will headline the NBA Rising Stars Invitational in Manila in May, marking the league’s first regional high-school tournament in Asia-Pacific.
SAN ANTONIO — The NBA announced that San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan will headline the NBA Rising Stars Invitational Philippines Qualifiers in Metro Manila from Wednesday, May 7 to Saturday, May 10.
According to the NBA, this event is the league’s first regional high-school basketball tournament. It will feature boys’ and girls’ teams from 10 countries and territories across Asia-Pacific competing in Singapore from Wednesday, June 25, to Sunday, June 29, as part of a multi-day immersive basketball and entertainment festival.
“Traveling the world as an NBA ambassador is an incredible privilege and I can’t wait to visit the Philippines for the first time,” said Sochan in a release. “I’m excited to engage with Filipino fans and watch some of the top basketball talent that will be on display. One of my best friends is Filipino and I know how much passion for basketball there is, so it’ll be amazing to witness it firsthand!”
SPURS GIVE UNVEILS NEW FUTSAL COURT AT BONNIE CONNER PARK
Spurs Give, San Antonio Parks & Recreation, and San Antonio Parks Foundation announced a brand-new Spurs-themed futsal court at Bonnie Conner Park on Thursday, April 24, as part of the Play SA initiative to increase access to safe, active play spaces across the city. The celebration included a ceremonial ribbon cutting with San Antonio FC players and community dignitaries, followed by a youth soccer clinic led by Spurs Sports Academy coaches for athletes ages 9 to 14.
