
Mark Scheifele will play in Game 6 is following his father’s unexpected death, according to reports.
DALLAS — Jets’ Mark Scheifele will play in Saturday’s Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals after his father unexpectedly died Friday night, ESPN reported. His availability was previously in question.
The Winnipeg Jets general manager, Kevin Cheveldayoff, told reporters Saturday that Scheifele’s father, Brad Scheifele, died, ESPN reported. In a pre-game media availibility, Jets coach Scott Arniel told reporters that Scheifele will take the ice in the potential elimination game.
“As an organization, we’re doing everything we can to support him and give his family our most sincere condolences. And obviously [we] ask that everybody respect his and their privacy at this time,” Cheveldayoff said, according to ESPN.
The Stars hold a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
