Jordan Stolz, the 21-year-old speed skating sensation from Wisconsin, is skating for a third medal Thursday at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
MILAN, Italy — American speed skater Jordan Stolz, who has won two gold medals at the 2026 Games and set Olympic records in the 500 meters and 1,000 meters, is taking to the ice again for the men’s 1,500 meters.
The 21-year-old from Wisconsin will compete for the gold medal alongside fellow Americans Emery Lehman and Casey Dawson.
It is his third Olympics event in Milan and might be a pathway to winning four medals at his second ever Winter Games.
At Beijing in 2022, just 17 years old, Stolz finished 13th in the 1000m and 14th in the 500m. In the time since, he has established himself as the best in the world at his sport, including two world titles each at the 500m, 1000m and 1500m.
And right now, Stolz is so far living up to the outsized expectations and accompanying pressure that follow his every stride on the ice at the Milano Speed Skating Stadium, a temporary facility created for this event.
The last time an American man won gold in the 500m was Joey Cheek at the 2006 Games in Turin, Italy. Stolz’s gold medal on Wednesday in the men’s 1000m speed skating event was Team USA’s first since Shani Davis won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2010.
Two races, two golds, two Olympic records.
His fourth and final event this Winter Olympics will be the men’s mass start event on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The last man with three gold medals in speedskating at one Winter Games was Norway’s Johann Olav Koss, who won the 1500m, 5000m and 10000m at the 1994 Lillehammer Games.
Where to watch Jordan Stolz in the 1500m

The race will air live on Peacock and streaming on NBC Olympics platforms. It will re-air during NBC Primetime on Thursday night, and on USA Network at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
