SAN ANTONIO — Jury selection is expected to begin Monday for the man accused in the deaths of a pregnant teenager, her boyfriend and their unborn child.
Prosecutors say Christopher Preciado faces capital murder charges in connection with the deaths of Savanah Soto, Matthew Guerra, and Soto’s unborn child on Dec. 24, 2023.
According to investigators, the killings happened after what police described as a drug deal outside a northwest San Antonio apartment complex.
Authorities say the case gained widespread attention across the city after Soto and Guerra were reported missing before their deaths were confirmed.
Preciado’s father, Ramon Preciado, is also facing charges. Investigators accuse him of helping hide the victims’ bodies after the killings. A trial date for him has not been announced.
Preciado’s mother, Myrta Romanos, was previously arrested on similar allegations. However, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office later dismissed the charges, citing the need for further investigation.
Court proceedings in the case are expected to continue this week as attorneys work to seat a jury.
