Keldon Johnson’s mural gets an upgrade; Spurs’ Wembanyama wants to play for Team France this summer

The mural of Keldon Johnson now proudly decorates the front of Rudy’s Seafood on San Antonio’s south side and Wemby might have a packed off season.

SAN ANTONIO — The mural of San Antonio Spurs‘ Keldon Johnson at Rudy’s Seafood Restaurant on the Southside received an upgrade.

Johnson’s mural has now been moved from the back side of the building to the front-facing wall to greet fans as they walk inside for some great seafood.

The new Johnson mural, created by local artist Nik Soupe, replaces the former Spur mural of Jeremy Sochan, which stood there for years.

The new mural features Keldon in an action pose, with his name splashed around him in the team’s Fiesta colors, showcasing his bald head and wearing his Icon Edition jersey.

WEMBANYAMA LOOKING TO SUIT UP FOR TEAM FRANCE

Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama might have a busy offseason.

During the All-Star Weekend, he told BeIN Sports France that he wants to join Team France for the 2027 World Cup qualifiers on July 3-6 and Aug. 24- Sept. 1.

“Of course, that’s absolutely my goal, but I hope I won’t be able to make the first round because that means we (Spurs) went to the NBA Finals,” he said. “For the August window, absolutely, that’s my goal to be there.”

Wembanyama led Team France to a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but he was in tears as the team fell short against Team USA.

Perhaps that’s all the motivation he needs to get Team France in a position to challenge for the gold.
