More than a week since The Kelly Clarkson Show announced its first slate of episodes this season would honor heroes and victims from the deadly Texas floods, locals now know one of the first guests the American Idol winner will be speaking to.
Employees of Kerrville ISD will be featured on the premiere episode of season seven of Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show on Monday, September 29. The district announced the news on Thursday, September 25, via Facebook, reminding the the community to set their DVR’s for 2 p.m. Central Standard Time.
NBC announced earlier this month that the entire slate of next week’s episodes will include first-hand stories from people who lent a hand to rescue others amid the the catastrophic July 4 flood, which claimed the lives of 119 people in Kerrville, and caused millions of dollars in damage.
The school district says that The Kelly Clarkson Show will highlight the uplifting and resilient accounts of KISD bus drivers. Interviews from the show’s premier week are expected to captivate audiences.
“We’re so proud of our team & can’t wait for you to see this heartfelt moment,” KISD said in the announcement.
It has been nearly three months since the flood, and the Kerrville community is still reeling from the emotional and financial scars of the natural disaster. In recent days alone, key updates have left the city splintered, from news that the 100-year-old Camp Mystic for Girls — where 27 young girls and camp councilors died from the flood waters — plans to reopen in 2026, to a recent lawsuit alleging negligence against a luxury campground. Earlier this week, the city’s leaders also voted to increase property tax rates on residents, a move that drew sharp criticism at a recent city council meeting.
