Dating back to its founding, dance hall officials write that people would travel by wagon from long and far just to take in a night at the hall. Even writing that if  “a person became too rowdy, he was chained the tree outside the hall until he sobered.”

According to the hall’s website, several German halls were built in the area around the time and Kendalia Halle is one of the best examples of the architectural structure of these historical sites.

“Built of red fir lumber which was shipped from Oregon by train to Boerne, then hauled to Kendalia on horse-drawn wagons, Kendalia Halle is a testament to these turn-of-the-century buildings that stand today,” reads a biography on the hall’s website. “Often referred to as one of the best dance floors in Texas, many a dancer has boot scooted across its wood.”

Since 1996, the hall underwent major renovation work including straightening the hall and insulating the wood paneled roof to help cool the hall in the summertime.

According to the announcement by the hall, any updates to the status of the Halle itself or any events will be made on the Hall’s Facebook page.
