SAN ANTONIO — Less than two weeks out from Christmas, five San Antonio-area programs are looking to bring home a gridiron-wrapped gift of a UIL state championship in football.
But those five teams – Smithson Valley, Boerne, La Vernia, Yoakum and Shiner – have to get to the title game first. That means emerging victorious in the State Semifinal round on Friday night.
Here are the matchups:
- Class 5A-I: Smithson Valley (13-1) vs. Port Arthur Memorial (14-0) @ Katy’s Legacy Stadium
- Class 5A-II: Boerne (13-1) vs. Richmond Randle (14-0) @ Alamodome
- Class 4A-I: La Vernia (13-1) vs. Kilgore (13-1) @ Waco’s McLane Stadium
- Class 3A-I: Yoakum (12-2) vs. Llano (13-1) @ Pflugerville’s The Pfield
- Class 2A-II: Shiner (14-0) vs. Mount Enterprise (14-0)
