Kerr County florists provide free arrangements, services for those who lost their lives in July floods

“Barb’s Flower Barn, “The Rose Shop,” and “Especially Yours” of Kerville, along with “Rustic Flower Shop” in Ingram, will provide for families.

KERRVILLE, Texas — Florists in Kerr County are giving back to their grieving community.

The Veridian Design Group, with the help of other local shops, will provide free floral arrangements for the funerals of those who were lost in the floods.

This is a joint effort of four local shops, including “Barb’s Flower Barn, “The Rose Shop,” and “Especially Yours” of Kerrville, along with “Rustic Flower Shop” in Ingram.

Facilitated through Tricia Hamil with Veridian Design Group, the shops want the community to know they’re grieving with them, using petals to help piece lives back together.

“It’s a really personal time for families, and they’re often very invested in making sure what they have to honor their loved one is representative of them,” Hamil said.

Now that effort comes at no cost. It’s a quiet, but fragrant gesture, a reminder that even in loss, there’s still beauty left to give.

“I’m not surprised at all that everyone wants to help and make sure our families can honor their loved ones the way they want – it’s just who we are,” Hamil said.

And if you are not from Kerr County, Glorious Creations in Houston has launched a state-wide effort to provide the same services to families who lost loved ones in the flood.

Hamil hopes these arrangements will provide comfort to a community loved by so many.

“Kerrville’s a very special place. Kerr County as a whole is the most loving. This is just exactly how you would expect our community to respond,” Hamil said.
