SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs faced a tough start to their season, falling to the Dallas Mavericks 120-109.
Despite a close contest for three quarters, the Spurs struggled in the fourth, highlighting issues with physicality and bench production. Victor Wembanyama’s play was underwhelming, with shooting woes and chemistry challenges evident.
The absence of Devin Vassell was felt, as the team lacked a secondary scoring threat. Key figures like Keldon Johnson and Tre Jones combined for just 10 points, while turnovers and rebounds were significant hurdles. The Spurs gave up 17 offensive rebounds, leading to 24 second chance points for Dallas.
