Killeen card shop reports $100K in rare Pokémon cards stolen in overnight break-in

A Killeen card shop lost $100K in rare Pokémon cards after a suspect broke in early Monday, prompting a police investigation and store closure.

KILLEEN, Texas — A Killeen card shop is recovering after a suspect stole approximately $100,000 worth of rare Pokémon cards and cash during an early morning break-in.

Evolutions Trading, a family-owned business serving the local trading card community, said the break-in occurred around 1:40 a.m. when the suspect smashed a window to gain entry.

Among the most valuable cards taken were a Skyridge Umbreon (Graded 10, $9,600), a Gold Star Charizard (Graded 10, $18,000) and a FireRed LeafGreen Charizard EX (Graded 10, $5,000), the shop said in a statement.

“This is a devastating moment for our small, family-owned business,” the owners wrote in a Facebook post. “We’ve poured our hearts into building a space for collectors, players, and the community. To have it violated like this is heartbreaking.”

Evolutions Trading will be closed for several days as the owners work with law enforcement and assess the damage.

Anyone with information about the theft or who sees the stolen cards being offered for sale is urged to contact the store or local authorities.

“We appreciate your support now more than ever,” Evolutions Trading said in their post. Their full post can be found here.
