Killeen police went to do a welfare check at the 3300 block of Lakecrest Drive and discovered a 37-year-old woman shot multiple times.
KILLEEN, Texas — One woman is dead after being shot multiple times, according to Killeen police.
The Killeen Police Department said she was found inside a Killeen home in the 3300 block of Lakecrest Drive on Friday, Feb. 21.
Police reported her husband, whom authorities identified as a suspect, has been brought into police custody.
On Friday, police responded to a welfare check request at 7:16 p.m., sending officers to a residence in the 3300 block of Lakecrest Drive.
Law enforcement reportedly found the woman suffering from several gunshot wounds inside the home.
Two children, who remain safe, were found in the home, but were unaware of the incident, according to Killeen PD.
The woman was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 9:29 p.m.
Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit issued an arrest warrant for the woman’s spouse. He was later located in Fort Cavazos and taken into police custody. He was moved to the Killeen City Jail.
Investigators believe this was a domestic violence-related incident and there is no danger to the public.
Law enforcement is investigating this incident. There is no other information available at this time.
